Legacy Giving

One of the important missions at Community Church at Ocean Pines (CCAOP) is to maintain long term financial stability. While Church accounting and other financial committees focus on payroll and other fiscal year expenses, the Endowment Committee prioritizes a long-term fund to rely upon in the event of a catastrophic emergency that would place CCAOP in financial disaster. An endowment fund is made up of gifts and bequests that are donated to the Church with a requirement that the principal is to be maintained intact and invested to create a source of income for ministries of the Church. An endowment fund is restricted; only the interest from the fund can be spent, not the principal that anchors the endowment.

An endowment committee was established in 2011 at CCAOP at a time when several estate gifts were contributed to the Community Church at Ocean Pines. The total endowment fund is invested with the Mid-Atlantic United Methodist Fund (MAUMF). The MAUMF endowment fund has grown that it allowed the endowment committee, working closely with the Church Board of Trustees, to disburse funds, interest only, for the following Church improvements and ministries:

  • Youth Ministry Funds
  • Church Renovations including Hospitality Room
  • Little Lambs Classroom Improvements
  • Outside Campus of Community Church at Ocean Pines
  • Various Church Equipment

The endowment committee has been and will be a good steward of donor's gifts towards long term legacy and life of the Church.
